Star Wars has been a big part of my life and I really think nothing could stand anywhere similar to how much Star Wars means to me. Now buckle up cause it’s about to get deep.
Star Wars to some people is just a regular sci-fi film, but to many others and myself it is something so much more. Star Wars was one of the first movies I ever got to watch with my dad and I genuinely fell in love with the story and the characters. Some people may call me a nerd and what not, but my dad and I love Star Wars and I will never forget those memories of watching it over and over with him laying in his bed.
Growing up, my father had some nose problems which caused migraines that would sometimes last months at a time, and the only time I would get to spend with my dad was when I went into his room to watch a movie with him. More often than not he would fall asleep because of the meds he was constantly on, and that movie was almost always one of the Star Wars films.
I never got to grow up playing football or baseball or even see him at school functions, so I cherished anytime I was ever able to be around him (which was mostly watching some sort of movie and when both of us love Star Wars to the bone that’s the film that is mostly in my memory). Now don’t get me wrong, I love the story too.
Star Wars’ story has captivated audiences and fans for years with killer starfighter battles, to legit lightsaber fights, all the way to redeeming Sith Lords that save their Jedi son. Star Wars means so much to me and has truly changed my life.
I struggled with anxiety throughout high school and middle school, and I always found myself watching some sort of Star Wars film or television show. I can say with honesty that Star Wars The Clone Wars got me through high school more than anything else.
To me, my axiety was that I just wanted to be alone and did not want to be with anyone or anything, so Star Wars was always there for me, from when I was young, spending time with my favorite person on Earth, to when I was genuinely struggling getting through the days.
Star Wars is really a story that is extremely approachable and very fun. Anyone can fall in love with the story.
I fell in love with the action and the characters, although my favorite part about any Star Wars film was the starfighter and lightsaber battles. But as I grew older I fell in love with the bonds between characters, the redemption of others, the betrayal, and the motivation/ drive to do everything in their power to keep fighting.
Growing up I struggled making friends, and I know it will sound cliche and cheesy, but Star Wars was always there for me – in cinema form or toy/ lego form. I will never not like Star Wars, it means too much to me. In times of struggle or loneliness, it was always there. One of the happiest moments in my life was meeting Mark Hamill, seeing a Star Wars character in real life was extroardinary and I froze up in genuine awe.
Have a wonderful May fourth!
